Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has signed an agreement to invest alongside Brookfield Infrastructure and Digital Realty in their Indian special-purpose vehicles (SPVs) dedicated to developing data centers in India. RIL will hold a 33.33% stake in each of the Indian SPVs, making them an equal partner in the venture.

Digital Realty Trust Inc. is a global provider of cloud and carrier-neutral data center, colocation, and interconnection solutions, operating over 300 data centers across 27 countries. They have a joint venture with Brookfield Infrastructure to develop data centers, and now RIL will join as an equal partner, resulting in the venture being branded as ‘Digital Connexion: A Brookfield, Jio, and Digital Realty Company.’

The joint venture is presently focused on developing data centers in prime locations in Chennai and Mumbai. Their first 20-megawatt greenfield data center, named MAA10, located on a 100-MW campus in Chennai, is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. These strategically located data centers will be connected to essential terrestrial connectivity infrastructure and undersea cables, serving as hubs for global connectivity for Indian companies and acting as gateways into India for multinational corporations.
