Apple supplier Corning to build an INR 1,000 Crore facility in TN

Corning Inc., a key Apple supplier, and American gorilla glass maker, is investing INR 1,000 Crore to establish a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The facility, coming up at Pillaipakkam near Sriperumbudur on a 25-acre plot, will employ around 300 people and may be expanded if needed.

This move signals the formal entry of another Apple supplier into India, strengthening the company’s growing ecosystem and electronic component manufacturing in the country.

Corning will collaborate with its Indian partner, Optiemus Infracom, for this venture.

Despite earlier indications of investment in Telangana, the company chose Tamil Nadu due to its well-established electronics ecosystem and proximity to other Apple suppliers.
