City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the Navi Mumbai town planning authority, is gearing up to construct a 7-kilometer coastal highway from Amra Marg to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). This highway, with a budget exceeding INR 700 Crore, will provide seamless connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, slated for completion by December 2024.

The highway will link the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) to the airport and play a pivotal role in efficiently managing traffic in the vicinity of the Navi Mumbai Airport site.

CIDCO stated that the proposed UCR is a six-lane divided road commencing from Amra Marg after the Panvel Creek Bridge running along the Ulwe node coast and connecting with MTHL at Shivaji Nagar. The length of the coastal road is 5.8 km and an airport link of about 1.2 Km.

The provision for appropriate spacing between the pillars/piers to avoid obstructing the free flow of tidal water will be taken care of and mangrove plantation will be carried out in consultation with the Mangrove Cell, replanting three times the number of mangroves destroyed or cut during the construction process.
