The Gujarat government is hosting the 2036 Summer Olympic Games in Ahmedabad. As part of these preparations, a 136-Acre land located in Sughad-Bhat, adjacent to the upcoming Sardar Patel Sports Enclave, has been designated for the construction of an Athletes’ Village. This residential infrastructure project will cater to sportspersons, coaches, and officials participating in sporting events.

The chosen plot of land, conveniently close to the proposed Sardar Patel Sports Enclave, is seen as an optimal location for the Athletes’ Village. Its proximity to the enclave will ensure minimal travel time for participants.

The construction of the Athletes’ Village is expected to commence in the coming months, with the state government emphasizing its intention to undertake the project through a public-private partnership (PPP) approach.

In line with its bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, the Gujarat government plans to invest Rs 4,600 crore in establishing the Sardar Patel Sports Enclave. This sprawling facility is intended to accommodate 20 sports disciplines within a built-up area spanning 93 lakh square feet. Additionally, a sports complex covering 18 hectares in Naranpura, costing Rs 631 crore, is also slated for construction. This complex will be equipped to support 18 different sporting disciplines.

For the master planning of its Olympic bid, including site assessment, benchmarking, venue layout, and overall vision, the government has enlisted the expertise of Populous Design Pvt Ltd. Notably, this architecture firm has been involved in every Olympic Games since 1996, reflecting its extensive experience in designing world-class sporting venues and infrastructure.
