Micron ready to set up India’s first semiconductor facility in Gujarat

On Friday, 28 July, Micron Technology, the US-based semiconductor company, announced that it will establish India’s inaugural chip facility in Gujarat, a move that is set to generate 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs in the foreseeable future.

Micron Technology’s President and CEO, Sanjay Mehrotra, expressed confidence in the project’s potential to create around 5,000 direct job opportunities and an additional 15,000 jobs within the community in the coming years. 

Speaking at the SemiconIndia 2023 event in Gandhinagar, Mehrotra highlighted the investment’s potential to stimulate further investments, fostering growth in semiconductor manufacturing and job creation. This upcoming facility will complement Micron’s existing teams in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
