Microsoft buys land in Hyderabad for INR 267 Crore to build data centre

Microsoft Corporation recently announced acquiring an anticipated 48 Acres of land in Hyderabad for a deal valued at an estimated INR 267 Crore. The property was purchased from the land aggregator, Sai Balaji Developers, located in Ranga Reddy district. This acquisition is part of Microsoft’s plans to expand its data center business.

The property is situated about 40 Km from the main city of Hyderabad. Microsoft intends to develop one of the largest data centers in the region on this land. This Hyderabad data center region will complement Microsoft’s existing network of three data center regions in India: Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. These have been operational for the past five years.

Microsoft already operates an India Development Centre (IDC) in Hyderabad, sprawled across 54 Acres. The IDC has played a pivotal role in Microsoft’s development and progression of technological offerings, such as Azure, Windows, Office, and Bing. Additionally, Microsoft has acquired two more land parcels in Hyderabad for its data center business.
