SLMG Beverages to set up recycling plant in JV with Coca-Cola, Dalmia Packaging

The leading franchise bottler for Coca-Cola in India, SLMG Beverages, plans to set up a PET bottle recycling plant in a joint venture with Coca-Cola India and Maharashtra-based Dalmia Packaging. The company will invest an estimated INR 90-100 Crore in this project.

The recycling plant will focus on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle recycling. It will have an annual capacity to recycle food-grade plastic of 36,000 tonnes. The plant will also produce 24,000 tonnes of plastic to create PET bottles. These recycled PET bottles are expected to account for 20% of SLMG Beverages’ sales.

The company has identified land between Lucknow and Kanpur for setting up the recycling unit and is in the process of ordering machinery. Production is expected to begin within the next two years. SLMG Beverages’ collaboration with Coca-Cola India and Dalmia Packaging represents a significant step toward promoting recycling and reducing plastic waste.
