UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority), on Saturday, November 18, announced its plans to develop industrial corridors along with five key expressways across the state. The government will be allocating an estimated amount of 7,000 INR crore for these projects, sprawling across approximately 5800 hectares.
UPEIDA has highlighted more than 30 sites for these corridors along the five expressways namely – Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, and Ganga Expressway. These are:
- The Ganga Expressway – connecting 12 districts, is proposed to have 11 industrial corridor sites sprawling across approximately 1522 hectares. The estimated cost for these projects is 2,300 INR Crore.
- The Purvanchal Expressway – connects nine districts and will have five industrial corridor sites at an expected cost of 2300 INR Crore, covering 1586 hectares.
- The Bundelkhand expressway – threading through seven districts, is poised to have six identified sites for the industrial corridor at a projected cost of 1,500 INR-Crore, covering approximately 1884 hectares.
- The Agra-Lucknow Expressway – threading through 10 districts, is proposed to have five industrial corridor sites spanning approximately 532 hectares. The projected cost of these projects is 650 INR Crore.
- The Gorakhpur Expressway – connecting four districts, is poised to have two industrial corridor sites at an estimated cost of 320 INR-Crore, sprawling across 345 hectares.
