Gadkari inaugurates, lays foundation stones of 29 highway projects worth 4K Cr in Punjab

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, on Wednesday, January 10, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 29 National Highway projects worth an estimated cost of INR 4,000 Crore in Punjab. The projects that were inaugurated include:

  • Ladhowal Bypass, the 6-lane flyover in Ludhiana
  • The 2-lane road overbridge in Ludhiana
  • 4-laning of the Jalandhar-Kapurthala section
  • Three bridges on the Jalandhar-Makhu road

The Union Minister laid the foundation stone for the 4-laning of the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara Road and the 4-laning of the Ferozepur Bypass.

He also emphasized that the ongoing five greenfield expressways and economic corridors with an estimated investment of 1.2 Lakh-Crore are poised to improve the connectivity of Punjab with other cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. This includes the ongoing 670 km long greenfield Delhi-Amritsar-Karta expressway project. This project aims to reduce the travel time between Amritsar and Delhi to four hours and Delhi to Katra to six hours.
