GODI India to invest INR 8,000 Cr for setting up Lithium Giga Factory

GODI India, on Wednesday, January 17, announced that the company will set up a 12.5 GWh Lithium & Sodium Ion and related technologies along with a Giga scale cell manufacturing facility at an estimated investment of INR 8,000 Crore in Telangana. The representatives of GODI India and the state government have signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) at the World Economic Forum 2024 in Davos for the same.

The proposed project will be developed in a phased manner with Phase I having a 2.5 GWh cell assembly line, which will further expand to 10 GWh in Phase II. The project will be developed over five years and is anticipated to generate 6000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Set up in 2020, Godi has emerged as a key player in the energy storage sector. The company has developed Li-ion pouch and cylindrical prototype cells in its Li-ion pilot production line. CM Revanth Reddy addressed that the proposed project aligns with Telangana’s goal of promoting the adoption of electric vehicles, and Godi India will play a key role in Telangana’s EV ecosystem.
