MMRDA plans a 2.5km elevated road in Kalyan; authority to soon float a tender for INR 700 Crore project

MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) plans to develop a 2.5 km elevated corridor in Kalyan worth an estimated construction cost of 700 INR Crore. The authority will soon float the tender for the project, whereas the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared.

The proposed elevated road will cross the Kalyan-Karjat railway line while connecting Vithalwadi crematorium (on Old Pune Link Road) with the Kalyan-Kasara railway line via Waldhuni. It will run parallel to the Waldhuni River and meet the Kalyan-Ahmednagar National Highway near the Palms Hotel.

The elevated corridor aims to reduce traffic congestion at three key locations, Waldhuni, F Cabin Bridge and Shahad Bridge. It will also reduce the time taken to reach Shahad in Kalyan from Vithalwadi from 40 minutes to five.
