Tata Power Renewable Energy secures 200 MW FDRE project

TPREL (TATA Power Renewable Energy Limited), a subsidiary of TATA Power, has won the LoA (Letter of Award) to set up a 200 MW Firm and dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Project. The project will be developed with SJVN Ltd  (designated as the Renewable Energy Implementing Agency, REIA).

The proposed project will be a hybrid development, including solar, wind, and battery storage units. It will also have a Greenshoe option, allowing additional capacity beyond 200 MW. The proposed project is anticipated to be operational within 24 months of PPA execution (Power Purchase Agreement).

FDRE aims to provide a stable and dispatchable energy supply during peak hours, as well as aid discoms (distribution companies) in meeting their RPO (Renewable Purchase Obligations) and ESO (Energy Storage Obligations).

TATA Power also signed MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Maharashtra Government in August 2023 for developing two Pumped Hydro Storage Projects at a combined estimated cost of 13,000 INR Crores. The construction of these projects is projected to start in Mid-2024.
