Union Cabinet approves setting up Central Tribal University in Telangana

On Wednesday, October 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chairing the Union Cabinet, approved an amendment to the Central Universities Act, 2009 to establish a Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University in Telangana’s Mulugu district.

The government is allocating INR 889.07 Crore for this purpose. The establishment of the new university will enhance access to and elevate the quality of higher education in the state.

Furthermore, it will foster higher education and advanced knowledge by furnishing instructional and research facilities in tribal art, culture, and traditional knowledge systems to benefit the tribal population in the state.
