Tata Power Renewable Energy to set up 41 MW captive solar plant in Tamil Nadu

On Wednesday, September 27, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Ltd, announced its plans to build a 41-MW captive solar plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This project is in alignment with TP Solar Ltd (TP Solar), which is undertaking the establishment of an extensive 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

This solar installation, anticipated to generate a substantial 101 million units of electricity annually and reduce approximately 72,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, is set to be commissioned within 12 months from the signing of the project development agreement. 

To manage the development, operation, and maintenance of this facility on behalf of TP Solar, TPREL has established a dedicated entity called TP Govardhan Creatives Ltd. TP Solar, a subsidiary of TPREL, is on track to begin commercial production of solar cells and modules by the fiscal year 2024-2025.
